Who Are You Being?

The identity that you hold for yourself, holds you captive more than anything else in life. You must know YOU possess identities, and if you are not aware, your identities posses you.

Why it's important to separate yourself from your identity?

You are unlimited and your identity is just a fraction of you. If you mistake your identity to be you, then what the environment does to you may become your scar, otherwise, you can always drop that identity and wear an alternative, the one most suited for the context. Don't let your identity choose your context, let your context choose your identity.

Rowan Atkinson, the famous British Actor used to get bullied throughout his school years for his stuttering and appearances. Later he progressed through school and earned his MSc in Electrical Engineering from Oxford.  During his journey, he discovered something profound, he somehow developed an interest in dramatic arts and decided to walk his own path.

Robson remembered Atkinson’s school drama career more vividly, “But when he walked on-stage he was exceptional.”
Dessau quotes another faculty member at St. Bees as saying, “Even an incipient stammer vanished whenever the young Atkinson stepped onto the stage.” In the August 23, 2007, issue of Time magazine,  Atkinson was asked if he still stuttered. He simply replied...“It comes and goes. I find when I play a character other than myself, the stammering disappears. That may have been some of the inspiration for pursuing the career I did.”

Our life struggle is also like that, when we are anything but our predisposed self through our conditioning, it might be difficult to accept, but when we are ready to take on a new identity, a new purpose, and write a new story, and a new character for self, we transcend our current reality.
